St Mary’s Airport (ISC) Scilly Isles UK
Reflex-Rol (UK) supplied and installed bespoke anti-glare roller blinds for the air traffic control tower at St Mary’s Airport in the Scilly Isles, a remote island airfield surrounded by open sea. The airport supports short-runway commercial flights, inter-island operations, and emergency services, all subject to intense coastal glare and rapidly shifting weather. Reflex-Rol blinds were engineered to control low-angle sun and reflected light from surrounding water while maintaining clear outward visibility. Custom-fitted to inclined glazing, the system reduces visual strain, stabilises internal temperatures, and enables controllers to maintain safe aircraft movements within this uniquely exposed, safety-critical island aviation environment daily.
